About Us

Stylecraft Blinds & Awnings is a Third Generation Australian Family Business based in Richmond NSW. We service The Hawkesbury, The Hills and The Blue Mountains, but often travel right across the Sydney Basin. We have completed apartments in Bondi, Mansions in Vaucluse, Holiday homes on the Central Coast and Retreats west of the Great Divide.

Originally manufacturers of Blinds and Awnings from our factory in North Strathfield, we now specialise in the design and installation of a wide range of Window & Soft Furnishings. As an Australian business we pride ourselves on stocking the very best Blinds & Awnings our country has to offer as well as brands from around the world in order to give our customers the very best choice.

We offer our services to Interior Designers, Architects, Businesses and Homeowners, helping them to navigate through the process of selecting and installing the right product for their needs. Our extensive product range consists of Blinds, Drapery, Awnings and Soft Furnishings, from basic to high-end and everything in between. All of our trusted suppliers manufacture high quality products that can be customised to suit any budget.

Our History

Stylecraft Blinds & Awnings established in 1933, began as manufactures of Blinds and Awnings from our factory in North Strathfield. We produced thousands of cedar & painted timber venetians, vertical drapes, roller blinds and a variety of external awnings for homes and businesses around Sydney.

As our business grew so too did our product range, we partnered with other Australian businesses to provide our customers with the very best interior and exterior window furnishings.

Colin Monro was a founding member of the Fashionline Group; a family of independent Australian companies within the window fashion industry that join forces to keep costs down for our customers.

In the late 90’s Colin & Gloria’s daughter, Narelle and husband John Godsell moved their family out to Richmond. It wasn’t long before we moved the business out of the city and started to help other families put the finishing touches to their new homes.  

Today Narelle and John watch on as Rebecca, Matt and Sarah have taken the helm.

Rebecca Robinson

Rebecca is our interior styling guru, always in contact with fabric houses, manufacturers and designers to keep us on trend. She brings with her over a decade of experience in the service and hospitality industry, looking after the Murdoch & Hariri families as head of service on board luxury yachts. Her attention to detail, exquisite taste and exemplary standards make her the keystone of our customer service team. Following a Visual Arts degree, Bec spent her early twenties working in art galleries. Her passion for art & design continues, currently completing her interior design qualifications, you’ll find her at our showroom surrounded by style & home magazines keen to help you find the perfect window & home furnishings.

Sarah Hawkett

Sarah has come into the family business after a decade at a leading construction company. She has an in-depth knowledge of commercial & residential construction, home renovation and most importantly keeping to a budget. Sarah helps us to provide our customers with the very best service at an affordable price. We have the ability to tailor our service for a wide range of budgets, without compromising on style or craftsmanship. Sarah, like her sister, has a love for home styling and with her meticulous planning helps us realise our customers’ visions on time and on budget.

Administration Assistant

Vicki Russo

Vicki is often the first point of contact for our customers. Whether you chat to her on the phone over email or in person, she is always on hand to help and book your design consultation. She is our super organiser, liaising with our suppliers and manufacturers, managing our installers’ diaries and keeping our customers up to date with their jobs progress.

Vicki is our office mother, always on the ball and always wearing a smile, she is a force to be reckoned with and we are so lucky to have her on our team. A mother of 3 boys and an expert at spinning plates, she is a master multi-tasker and is a much loved and valued member of the Stylecraft Family.

Narelle Godsell

The daughter of our company founders; Colin & Gloria Monro, Narelle has worked in the family business from her school days. Having been in the business for over 50 years, she has an extensive knowledge on fabric and hardware for all types of window furnishing.
Now having handed the business over to their daughters Rebecca & Sarah, Narelle still acts as one of our company directors and is always on-hand to jump onto the sewing machine.

Operations Manager

Matthew Robinson

Matthew spent his twenties working in London as a successful set designer & production manager for the likes of London Fashion week, Audi, Vivienne Westwood & Westfield to name but a few. During his thirties he worked with Rebecca onboard SY Rosehearty as part of the deck crew, sailing around the world, organizing events and managing the yacht’s yearly maintenance schedule.

Today you will meet him as your design consultant, or on the tools leading our installation team, either way he is on hand throughout the whole process and always has his eye on the detail. Matthew helps our clients realize their projects true potential, often encouraging them to step out of their comfort zone to achieve truly beautiful results.

Simon Guy

A longtime friend of the family, having gone to school with Rebecca; Simon is our lead installer; nothing is ever too much trouble and our customers just love him. His calm manner, kind nature and silly humour make him a much-loved member of the Stylecraft family.

Simon joined us in 2018 with an impressive array of skills including landscape gardening, a qualified plumber and qualified roofer. Now having spent 3 years on the tools with John and Matthew, Simon is now our trusted installer training up our latest team member, Mitch. Simon has extensive product knowledge, exemplary attention to detail and a very high standard of finishing.

Mitchell Fitzpatrick

Another long standing friend of the family helps round off our close-knit team. Mitch joined us recently after a long career in both residential & commercial construction, looking for a new challenge. He is an expert on the tools, very meticulous and has already become a huge asset to our team. He is at the start of our 3-year in-house training program and is absorbing all aspects of our products design, technical specification and installation.

John like Matthew, married into the family business, he’s been our master installer since the early 80’s and shows no sign of stopping anytime soon.

Our Process

Whether you are building your dream home, renovating or simply need to replace your existing blinds, contact us to arrange your complimentary design consultation. This initial consultation can be at our Richmond showroom or in the comfort of your own home or workplace. Our design consultants will discuss your project with you, whether you know exactly what you want or you are in need of a little help and inspiration.

You will be guided through the design features of a variety of products and brands so you can make an informed decision on what best suits your needs. 

We tackle the basics of providing privacy, light block-out, heat reduction and insulation and the more complex matter of style and functionality. 

Our helpful showroom team then collates your design choices to provide you with an itemised quotation.

On accepting our quotation, a 50 % part-payment is required and our team places your order into production. 

Depending on your product selection, lead times range from 3 – 6 weeks for Australian made products and 6 – 10 weeks for imported products. 

A member of the showroom team will contact you once all your items are ready to arrange a suitable installation date.

All of your old window furnishings are removed and taken away to be broken down and recycled where possible, any holes left by old furnishings filled & painted and your new products are expertly installed. 

Once you are happy with the installation, we ask for the remaining 50% balance to be paid in full.

All of our installations are backed by our 5 year warranty.
